JY Group Becomes a National Charity Sponsor of OzHarvest Across Australia

February 5, 2026

JY Group is delighted to announce the commencement of a multi-year strategic partnership with OzHarvest, one of Australia’s most influential food rescue charities, and its appointment as a National Sponsor.

Founded in 2004 by Ronni Kahn AO, OzHarvest began with a simple yet powerful mission. While running her event management business, Ronni observed the significant volume of high-quality, perfectly edible food being discarded. With just a single van operating in Sydney, she began collecting surplus food and delivering it to local charities — marking the beginning of what would become Australia’s leading food rescue movement.

Over the past 20 years, OzHarvest has grown into a nationwide food rescue network. Its iconic yellow vans now collect more than 250 tonnes of quality surplus food each week from over 2,600 food donors across Australia. This food is delivered directly to more than 1,500 charitable organisations that provide meals and support to people in need.

Beyond food rescue, OzHarvest drives systemic change through three national education programmes and ongoing public advocacy, raising awareness of food security and food waste. The organisation is committed to halving Australia’s food waste by 2030.

OzHarvest’s sustained social impact is powered by a purpose-driven team of 350 professional staff, an extensive partner network, and more than 3,000 dedicated volunteers who collectively advance long-term food rescue and community care initiatives.

The organisation’s work is supported by a range of leading global and Australian institutions. Its National Sponsors include Woolworths, Nestlé, Asahi Beverages, BP, Goodman and KPMG.

This partnership reflects JY Group’s unwavering commitment to giving back to the community. Since the 2022–23 financial year, JY Group has been a member of the “Pledge 1%” initiative, committing 1% of annual net profit to charitable contributions, with an incremental increase of 0.5% each year. Under this long-term mechanism, by the 2025–26 financial year the Group’s annual charitable contribution has risen to 2.5%, ensuring that its investment in social responsibility continues to grow in line with the business.

In addition to financial support, JY Group — as a national owner and manager of large-scale community retail centres — will work closely with OzHarvest to leverage its shopping centre platforms to raise public awareness of food rescue and food waste reduction. Together, the organisations will promote responsible consumption and encourage meaningful behavioural change within the communities they serve.

Looking ahead, JY Group will continue to deepen collaboration with community organisations and charitable institutions to contribute to community development and social wellbeing. We firmly believe that through sustained, disciplined philanthropy and responsible business practice, companies and communities can work hand in hand to build a more compassionate and sustainable future.
