Two JY Group Properties Recognised in Australia’s Big Guns 2023 Ranking

March 27, 2023
JY Group is proud to announce that two of its shopping centres—Wollongong Central (Gross Lettable Area 54,955 sqm) and Roselands, Sydney (Gross Lettable Area 63,625 sqm)—have been recognised in the prestigious Big Guns 2023 ranking, published by Shopping Centre News, widely regarded as the “industry bible” of Australia’s retail property sector.

First launched in March 1992, the Big Guns ranking has, for over 30 years, been recognised as the authoritative benchmark for Australia’s shopping centre industry. The 2023 edition, covering the period from 1 January to 31 December 2022, once again evaluated the nation’s largest shopping centres based on Gross Lettable Area (GLA), total annual tenant sales, and sales per square metre, listing Australia’s top 91 centres.

According to Big Guns 2023, approximately 84% of large shopping centres recorded annual tenant sales growth, reflecting the strong recovery and resilience of the Australian economy in the post-pandemic period.

The ranking also highlighted standout performances across the sector. Vicinity’s Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne (GLA 237,411 sqm) retained its position at the top of the list, with tenant sales reaching a record AUD 2.67 billion—an increase of 16.2% compared with 2020. Meanwhile, Mirvac’s Broadway Sydney (GLA 52,863 sqm) reclaimed first place in average annual tenant sales per square metre, achieving AUD 16,272/m², up 8.5% from 2020.
